Pilgrim's Food Masters Campaign #FryerAndRehire
On 23rd March 2023, around 100 workers headed to Parliament threatened with the sack if they don’t accept losing paid breaks, reduced sick pay, and the removal of Diwali holiday pay
The outdated threat of ‘fire and rehire’ has risen its ugly head at Pilgrim’s Food Masters (formerly Noons) in Southall, West London.
Hard-working staff at the factory, that supplies ready meals to supermarket giants including Tesco, Sainsburys, and Waitrose have been told to accept a new contract that would result in staff working longer shifts with fewer paid breaks and reduced sick pay – or face the sack.
GMB Union has been fighting for years against this nefarious practice and is calling on Pilgrim’s Food Masters to withdraw the threat from their loyal workforce and return to the negotiating table in good faith.
Last week GMB London Region supported members at Pilgrim’s Food Masters to take their fight to Parliament and launch their #FryerAndRehire campaign.
At a meeting arranged by Virendra Sharma MP, who represents Ealing Southall where the Pilgrim’s Food Masters factory is located, GMB brought together MPs and Councillors to hear from workplace representatives and GMB officers about the scandalous situation they were facing.
