GMB members at Britvic vote in favour of strike action
GMB members employed by Britvic in Norwich vote in favour of strike action and action short of strike action in attempt to improve the redundancy package offered by company
Members have voted in favour of industrial action in the hope that the company will agree to meet with GMB to negotiate a settlement, says GMB London
GMB members at the Britvic factory in Norwich, have voted in favour of industrial action, in an attempt to improve the redundancy package offered to them by the company. [See notes to editors for previous GMB press releases]
Britvic announced last year it would be closing the factory by 2019, putting 242 jobs at risk.
GMB will be issuing notice of industrial action dates in due course.
Ivan Mercer, GMB Regional Officer said:
“Members have voted in favour of industrial action in the hope that the company will agree to meet with GMB to negotiate a settlement.
“GMB have offered to negotiate on numerous occasions to avert a dispute with no response from the company.
“Unfortunately, it appears inevitable that members will need to follow through on their decision to take strike action and action short of strike action.”
