GMB London delighted to help TfL with the distribution of PPE for the Taxi and Private Hire sector
GMB London will be working in collaboration with Transport for London (TfL) with the distribution of PPE for licensed Private Hire and Taxi drivers. From the rear car park at our office in Hendon, GMB and TfL staff will be distributing PPE and passenger-facing message notices to drivers who want to collect these supplies.
The initiative announced on 4th December by Transport for London (TfL), is to support the Taxi and Private Hire sector to protect drivers and passengers in the fight against the spread of Covid.
GMB the union for workers in the Taxi and Private Hire sector will be helping with distributing supplies of face masks, bottles of sanitiser, passenger-facing messaging and an instructional video on how to clean and sanitise vehicles.
Collection of supplies will be available for licensed drivers from 10am to 3pm on Monday 21st December and will be operational as a drive through using GMB’s Hendon car park.
We hope that for those members of the public who need to make essential journeys during the seasonal period, this initiative will help encourage usage of licensed private hire vehicles and taxis knowing that carriers are adhering to Covid safety measures supported by TfL.

GMB calls on the travelling public to use only licensed Taxi Driver operators who are adhering to Covid safety measures. Wearing a face covering is essential for all journeys, do not forget that drivers have loved ones who are dependent on these essential workers. Please think of them when you make your journey.
