MotheRED is a new imitative launched by Stella Creasy MP and others to encourage more mothers to stand for parliament,
The campaign is keen to ensure as many as possible potential candidates know of our MotheRED funding for mums to be candidates ahead of the Labour Party selection process for parliamentary seats, which will start shortly after the local elections on 5th May, You can find a short article Stella wrote for Labourlist about this project here.
The MotheRED fund is a time limited project to end the 'motherhood penalty' women face when running for public office and provide direct grants to mothers to help ensure childcare costs are not a barrier to standing for selection to be a Labour Party Candidate at the next general election. If you are eligible to be a Labour candidate, support the 'This Mum Votes' campaign and have caring responsibilities you can apply for a direct grant of up to £2,000. Grants will be determined by a panel of thirty women drawn from across the Labour movement with the first round of funding released in May 2022.
