GMB Pregnancy Loss in the Workplace Charter

In 2023, London Region moved a successful motion at GMB Congress on Pregnancy Loss in the Workplace including a call to produce a model charter.

Wednesday 9th October marks the beginning of Baby Loss Awareness Week 2024 (9th to 15th October) and GMB has launched the Charter and Rep’s guide to coincide. A key call of the charter is for employers to provide at least one month’s paid leave to those who lose a pregnancy, and two weeks for partners/co-parents.

The motion originated from London Region's E10 Ealing Branch. After it was passed at Congress in 2023, work began on producing the now available GMB Pregnancy Loss Charter and GMB Reps Guide to Pregnancy Loss in the Workplace.

If any branch or activist in the region would like more information on the charter and negotiating its uptake, please contact Eleanor Saunders at GMB National Office, Eleanor.Saunders@gmb.org.uk or Rachael Baylis, GMB London Region's Equality Officer, rachael.baylis@gmb.org.uk
