Staff working for the British Medical Association are today [Wednesday 4 March] protesting outside the organisation’s central London HQ in a row over pay.
GMB Union, which organised the demonstration, is currently balloting over 400 of its members on whether to strike over the pay dispute.
The strike ballot closes on 16th March.
Anger has been directed towards the BMA’s CEO over the failure to ensure a fairer pay deal for staff.
BMA staff have also expressed concerns following the announcement of a major restructure, which could result in job losses.
Gavin Davies, GMB Senior Organiser, said:
“Today’s protest marks yet another low point for BMA management, who could see their own staff out on strike in a matter of weeks.
“Morale is at rock bottom, with staff feeling undervalued first by a dismal pay offer and now the threat of job losses.
“We are calling on the BMA to be fair about pay, as they rightly demand for their own members.
“All our members are asking for is a fair pay deal, that addresses years of pay erosion and the realities of the cost of living.”
